Peer-to-Peer Campaigns Raise Over $100,000
This year USA Rugby Trust has helped raise over $100,000 for several of USA Rugby's National and Age Grade All-American teams through peer-to-peer fundraising to reduce the heavy financial burden that often falls on players. The Women's Eagles were able to offset camp fees and travel costs, the Women's Eagles Sevens team sought support for their players who are training full time, the Women's Junior All-Americans found a huge support base for their successful run at the U-20 Nations Cup in England (read about their 2nd place finish here!), and the Women's Sevens team representing the USA raised enough money to attend the World University Games in Kazan, Russia.
ColoradoGives has been a great opportunity for the Trust to cooperate directly with players, and to help these athletes access a new resource that facilitates direct connection with their own personal networks.
Most of the money raised in these campaigns came directly from the players' friends, family, former teammates, former coaches and other "rugby family." The success of these efforts highlight(s) the truly extraordinary and unique spirit and unity in the rugby community.
The Women's Eagles are currently running a second campaign to support their efforts at the Senior Nations Cup in Greely, CO where they will face off with Canada, South Africa, and England. Look here to find more information and support our Eagles!
The Women's Collegiate All-Americans are also currently campaigning to send players to three camps this year and an international tour to France in December. Competitive experiences like these are vital to developing future National Teams players. To help these young student-athletes, check out their pages here!
