All Blacks still undefeated against Men's Eagles Sevens with 43-7 win
PORT ELIZABETH, South Africa – Carlin Isles scored the Men’s Eagles Sevens’ only try in a 43-7 losing effort to New Zealand Saturday at Cell C Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens.
Gillies Kaka capitalized on an Eagles turnover with help from a teammate for his first try in the second minute. Isles responded immediately upon receiving the ensuing kickoff with the speed to which fans have grown accustomed over the course of the last year, tying the match at 7-7.
Sherwin Stowers scored three successive tries before the halftime whistle to mark the second consecutive match the Eagles have allowed an opposing player to record a hat trick. New Zealand took a 22-7 lead into the half.
Lote Raikabula scored on the other side of halftime to increase the lead to 29-7 before Kaka finished off a hat trick of his own with two tries in three minutes for a 43-7 final score.
The Eagles will most likely move into the Bowl Quarterfinals for the third consecutive tournament, depending on the results from their match against Portugal at 10:14 A.M. ET and New Zealand’s match against Wales.
