USA Rugby has developed the following policies and procedures to ensure fairness and safety for all registered rugby participants in the United States. Territorial and local area unions may require additional compliance for competition so please verify all eligibility requirements with local administration before starting your season!

USA Rugby Eligibility Regulations

USA Rugby sets minimum eligibility standards that your team must adhere to during all competitive matches. It is your responsibility to review these regulations periodically and ensure that your team is in compliance at all times.

Eligibility Waiver Requests

Not sure if you are eligible for your club? If you fall outside of the Eligibility Regulations, you are welcome to submit a waiver request.

National Championship Paperwork & Procedures

Once you have qualified for a USA Rugby Championship event, through your LAU or TU competition you will need to follow these procedures. Please Check with your LAU and TU to see what is required of you prior to reaching USA Rugby Playoffs or Championships. Specific requirements may differ from Territory to Territory.

Random Spot Check Procedure

As of October 2006, a random spot check procedure has been put into place for all USA Rugby Championships. USA Rugby will select, at random, at least one team per championship event to do a thorough check of eligibility. Please review this procedure, if your team is selected it is expected that your team knows what will be required and will be able to produce the proper evidence within the appropriate time frame.

Your team should utilize these forms and suggestions to create an Eligibility Folder to ensure your team’s compliance throughout the season. You will be expected to understand the eligibility regulations as they apply to you and your club. Your team will also be expected to have these prepared forms for any eligibility challenges or random spot checks. Please check with your LAU and TU to see what forms are required of you throughout your season and into your Territorial playoffs and championships.
