IRB in search of Chief Medical Officer

Rugby is one of the world's most popular and fastest growing sports. The world governing body is the International Rugby Board (IRB), which is based in Dublin, Ireland. With over 118 national unions in membership, it is responsible for the governance, administration and development of Rugby worldwide, as well as the staging and management of Rugby World Cup and other major tournaments.


The IRB is seeking to appoint a part time Chief Medical Officer to advise and assist in the development of leading edge medical policies, expert papers and medical guidelines to support all levels of the Game of Rugby taking into account diverse economic, cultural and socio-political circumstances.


The role involves providing advice to IRB management and decision making committees, engaging with leading experts in the field of sports medicine, cooperating with other International Sports Federations, participating in inter- sport working groups and leading IRB medical working groups.

The successful candidate will have appropriate fellowship status and a further sports medicine qualification. The CMO must have the credibility amongst the groups that he/she will be dealing with and have the ability to facilitate outcomes from groups with strong views and multi disciplinary expertise.
