Las Vegas Invitational Day One Recap

The USA Falcons recorded one win and one loss on day one of the Las Vegas Invitational in the Men's Elite 7s Division on Thursday, opening the tournament with a 24-19 loss to Chile and finishing the day with a comprehensive 31-14 win against US Air Force.

Current Eagles Sevens players Nate Augspurger, Tai Enosa, and Brett Thompson each participated with the Falcons, who are also made up of Peter Tiberio, Kyle Hitt of the Denver Barbarians, and James Aldridge.

Over 215 teams from all over the world have travelled to Las Vegas to compete in the Invitational. With 25 divisions, from Men's Elite 7s to Women's College Challenge 15s to Touch, the Las Vegas Invitational is considered one of the premier amateur rugby events in the United States.

Coached by Tony Pacheco, the USA Falcons will continue their pursuit of the Men's Elite 7s Division crown on day two with their last pool match against Iceland before advancing to either the Bowl or Cup quarterfinals.

USA Stars and USA Stripes, competing in the Women's Elite 7s Division, begin their Invitational campaigns on day two. Both teams consist of several Women's Eagles Sevens players fresh from their second-place finish at the Houston Sevens last weekend.

In the High School Elite 7s Division, USA Rugby fields two High School All-American teams who will also begin pool play on day two in Las Vegas. Coached by Salty Thompson, the High School All-American teams contain some of the best talents in the country preparing for the 2016 Olympics.
