AIG WJAAs selected for upcoming camp at Olympic Training Center

BOULDER, Colo. – Head Coach Danielle Miller has selected 38 players from the four regional camps earlier this year to attend the USA Rugby AIG Women’s Junior All-Americans Camp at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif., from May 24-27. The camp will serve as the final selection camp for the U20 Nations Cup in England.

The four regional camps in Atlanta, Ga., Fullerton, Calif., Portland, Ore., and Herndon, Va., attracted 160 young women in March, and Miller and her coaching staff had a tough time sorting through quality players for the final selection camp.

“It was very difficult to select the 38 athletes to attend the camp from all the players who attended the regional camps,” Miller said. “The regional camps offered a great opportunity to meet many players and see all of the talent that is available in the United States. The players that will attend the camp at Chula Vista will implement the defense and patterns of attack that will be used at the U20 Nations Cup.”

The WJAAs will depart for the U20 Nations Cup—to be hosted by Trent College in Nottingham—July 7, and will begin play on July 11. The full schedule and matchups are still to be determined, but the match days will be July 11, 14, 17, and 21.
