2015 NDS Featured Presenter: Alex Magleby

The 2015 National Development Summit, bringing together elite rugby experts from around the country and the world, will welcome a presentation from USA Rugby National Sevens Director Alex Magleby.

Hosted at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare hotel and conference center in Chicago Jan. 23-25, 2015, the NDS provides an annual opportunity for coaches, referees, and administrators, as well as rugby enthusiasts and fans, to connect with and learn from influential rugby minds.

Magleby led the Men's Eagles Sevens as head coach from March 2012 through the end of the IRB Rugby World Cup Sevens 2013 in Moscow, Russia. After spending some time away from the national team to continue his duties as technical advisor at Dartmouth College, where he also coached the Big Green from 2001 to 2012, Magleby began his work as national sevens director.

Since his appointment in February 2014, Magleby has overseen the creation and implementation of the Elite City Sevens tournament, the inclusion of an additional five National Development Academies to USA Rugby's Olympic Development Academy, and the identification and placement of multiple new members of the Eagles.

"Alex has held a number of positions within USA Rugby and has pushed the growth of rugby in America to new levels," USA Rugby Youth & High School Manager Brandy Medran said. "Speaking with him for five minutes is invaluable, so we are all looking forward to what he'll bring to the National Development Summit."

Magleby will be presenting as part of the coaching track on topics related to high performance rugby and rugby sevens, one of the newest Olympic sports.
