Play it safe and you could go to London

AIG (American International Group) announced this week the launch of the AIG Rugby Safety Awards 2015.

Following on from a successful 2014 Rugby Safety campaign, AIG is encouraging players and fans at all levels to share rugby safety tips to help improve the way teams and individuals prepare.

The role of the awards is to encourage positive conversation around safety in rugby and champion the importance of preparation.

Whether preparing for a match with a warm up, or preparing for a tackle in training, preparation and correct technique is paramount in reducing the risk of preventable injury whilst playing rugby.

Speaking about the awards, Daniel Glantz, Global Head of Sponsorship at AIG commented, "We are committed to growing the game of rugby, and player welfare is fundamental to the development of the sport. As with insurance, risk management in rugby is all about correct preparation."

AIG is giving grassroots rugby players the chance to win the ultimate rugby experience by posting a photo showing how they prepare to play safe rugby. Entries can be submitted via Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #AIGSafeRugby.

The winner will travel to London this September where they will enjoy the ultimate rugby experience. The public have until Friday, June 26 2015 to enter. To view the entries go to www.aig.com/saferugby . The winner and three runners up will be announced in July.

AIG, who also support New Zealand Rugby, the Japanese Rugby Federation, and youth programs such as Play Rugby USA, is aiming to highlight the importance of safe practice, to help ensure safer rugby globally.

We are committed to growing the game of rugby, and player welfare is fundamental to the development of the sport. As with insurance, risk management in rugby is all about correct preparation.”
