USA Rugby to Hire New Women’s Sevens Head Coach

BOULDER, CO - USA Rugby confirms today that it will not be extending the contract of Women's National Sevens Head Coach Ric Suggitt beyond its expiration in December 2015. Ric has been the Head Coach of the Women's National Sevens team since January 2010.

With just under a year to go to the Olympics in Rio and the Women's World Sevens Series kicking off in Dubai in December, it was decided to make a change with immediate effect to allow the team the best possible preparation for the new season and the Olympics.

A new Head Coach will be announced on Wednesday, September 16.

"I would like to thank Ric for his hard work and commitment to developing the women's full time program at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, California" said USA Rugby CEO Nigel Melville. "It was not an easy decision to make a change but we have to become increasingly competitive against the top-three nations in the world in order to win a medal in Rio and any changes that we need to make have to be made now, not in 2016."
