Registration open for Oct. 18 National Tracking Camps

BOULDER, Colo. - Looking ahead to a busy 2016 calendar year for the women's national teams - from the senior Eagles sides to the three levels of age-grade All-Americans - there will be two National Tracking Camps held Sunday, Oct. 18, for athletes 18 years of age and older.

Wisconsin Women's Rugby and Madison United Rugby are joint-hosting the NTC event just outside Madison, Wisc., at the Wisconsin Rugby Sports Complex, while the NTC outside San Diego will be held at Sweetwater Park in Bonita, Calif.

Athletes with Eagle and age-grade national team aspirations must register for either NTC and pay the $40 registration fee. Women's Eagles Assistant Head Coach Martha Daines will lead the NTC in Wisconsin and Women's Eagles Sevens Assistant Coach Richie Walker will be on hand in southern California.

"The National Tracking Camp is an opportunity for players to have a chance to demonstrate their rugby potential to the coaching staff," USA Rugby Women's National Team Pathway Manager Tam Breckenridge said. "The key venue by which an athlete can be selected to one of the national teams is through the National All-Star Competition. Those who show well at an NTC put themselves in a position to receive an invitation to an upcoming NASC."

Players will participate in basic skill and technical activity sessions, followed by a series of live games in front of USA Rugby national team coaches. Following the one-day camp, the coaching staffs will review performances and recommend athletes to the upcoming National All-Star Competition in Lakeland, Fla., over the New Year's Day break.
