Men's Selects stride into final APC match with confidence

1-1 in the Americas Pacific Challenge, US squad hopes to finish strong against rival Canada A

MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay - "Canada have shown intent to playing positive ball movement rugby. We're looking forward to an exciting contest", says Head Coach Scott Lawrence as the Men's USA Rugby Selects head into the 3rd and final match with neighbor to the north, Canada A. "It's been an opportunity for our up and coming players to test themselves against test veterans. We'll get another chance to do that again this weekend against a side with 169 international caps"

The United States trail 2016 tournament champions, Argentina XV, by 4 points. The South American rugby powerhouse are 2-0 with both matches awarding bonus points. A collection of bonus points crowd the APC scoreboard however as the US earned two of their own, along with Uruguay A. Uruguay sits just below the Americans with an even 6 points after falling 49-36 on Wednesday

The window for a United States championship remains open going into the last match. Should the Selects win over Canada A with a bonus point in hand, followed by a non-bonus point Uruguay A victory over Argentina, a mid-field championship celebration will be in order.  Regardless, with the Americas Pacific Challenge being a development and assessment tournament, most victories won't reflect in the standings as athletes from each nation hope to put their hand up for their respective senior national teams.

The final match against Canada A kicks off Sunday Oct. 15th at 1pmET LIVE on The Rugby Channel.
