A Wet Weekend Doesn’t Dampen the Quality of the Pacific South

It was a wild Saturday on March 10 for rugby players across much of the Pacific South club region who were deluged with rain, but played on. The 22 matches played included a change in the leaderboard in the Pacific Rugby Premiership with Belmont Shore locking in second place.  The Men's Division II has small point differences in the B and C groups.  The Men's Division III and Division IV had some topsy turvy matches with a couple of scores missing at printing.  It was Division crossover week for the Women with Division I playing Division II clubs. 

Samurai Sportswear Pacific Rugby Premiership

Old Mission Beach Athletic Club remains undefeated after Saturday's match against San Francisco Golden Gate, 38-14. Belmont Shore tightened up second place with their win over the Santa Monica Dolphins, 19-3. Life West Gladiators are just one point behind third place with their 55-22 win over Olympic Club.

Men's Division II

The Red Mountain Warthogs came away with a win over San Fernando Valley Rugby, 34-20.  Oceanside Chiefs are tied for first place in Group B with their win 57-3 against Northern Arizona Landsharks.  Also tied for first place in the B division is San Diego Old Aztecs who took on Ventura County Outlaws and won 35-20. Temple Old Devils snagged a win 15-7 over Los Angeles Rugby Club.  This puts Tempe just one point behind first place in Group C.  In a battle of the leaderboard, Pasadena Rugby (Group A) battled Las Vegas Irish (Group C).  The Las Vegas Irish came away with the win, 19-15.  The Back Bay Sharks won 39-15 over the Huntington Beach Unicorns.

Men's Division III

Beaumont Bluehawks, who hold first place in the SoCal division, won in a tight match against the North County Gurkhas, 26-22.  Scottsdale Blues took on the Tucson Magpies and came away with a win, 37-27.  The Old Pueblo Lions cinched a win 51-12 over the Las Vegas Irish D3The Orange County Ravens defeated the Santa Barbara Grunions, 41-22.  Santa Monica Dolphins D3 nabbed a win due to forfeit from Riverside Rugby.  The Arizona division leader, Phoenix Rugby, beat Camelback Rugby 111-0. 

Men's Division IV

Oxy Olde Boys played San Diego Armada, coming away with a 44-17 win.

Women's Division I and Division II

During this division crossover week, Pasadena Royals Rugby beat the Santa Monica Dolphins (DI) 28-19. Belmont Rugby grabbed a win from Las Vegas Slots, 38-12.  The Tempe Ninjas met Old Pueblo Lightning  coming away with a 41-0 win.
