St. Paddy’s Day Play Brought a Wee Bit of Leaderboard Movement in the Pacific South

St. Patrick's Day play brought 18 action packed matches in the Pacific South. Noted battles included the Division I Lifewest Gladiators in a victory over Belmont Shore and an exciting 80th minute try scored in the Men's DII contest of Huntington Beach Unicorns versus San Fernando Valley, resulting in a 24-24 tie. The Men's DIII and DIV division had fewer matches slated and the Women's DI were off altogether. The Women's DII saw a fight for third place between the Ventura County Lady Outlaws and San Fernando Valley Rugby.

Old Mission Beach Athletic Club (OMBAC) retain their undefeated crown in the Men's Division I after last Saturday's win over the Santa Monica Dolphins 41-3. Player and coach Tai Tuisamoa completed a hat trick of hat tricks with this third game scoring three tries. Life West Gladiators battled Belmont Shore sneaking out a 19-17 win. Life West's number nine, Devereaux Ferris, scored a try in the 65th minute to tie the game 17-17 with Guillaume Cazenave converting to snag the Gladiator lead. San Francisco Golden Gate locked in their second place slot beating Olympic Rugby Club 44-31.

Men's Division II

Pasadena Rugby cemented their lead in Group A with a 50-11 win over Ventura County Outlaws. San Diego Old Aztecs, atop the board in the Group B, held strong against Los Angeles Rugby with a 57-20 victory. Group C leaders, Las Vegas Irish, beat out the Temple Old Devils, 64-29. The Red Mountain Warthogs locked in a win on the road against the North Arizona Landsharks, 45-35. Number eight, Garret Marks, scored a try in the 80th minute for San Fernando Valley to sneak out a tie, 24-24, versus the Huntington Beach Unicorns.

 Men's Division III

Scottsdale Blues won on the road 26-24 against the Las Vegas Irish D3. Old Pueblo Lions beat out the Arizona Division first place leaders, Phoenix Rugby, 20-14. T

Men's Division IV

The Temecula Mountain Lions toppled over the Los Angeles Rebellion, 77-14. Dead Rabbits won via forfeit from Oxy Olde Boys. The San Diego Armada versus South Bay Stingrays match was cancelled due to wet conditions at Robb Field.

Women's Division II

The tied battle for number two continues as both Las Vegas Slots, 48-0 over Fullerton Wolfpack, and Pasadena Rugby, 45-12 over Santa Barbara Mermaids, secured victories on March 17. Though Ventura County Lady Outlaws made a late run with two tries and a conversion scored in the final seven minutes, they fell short against third place San Fernando Valley Rugby, 36-38. Women's DII leaders, Old Pueblo Lightening, received a forfeit win from San Luis Obispo.
