Top Teams Show Pedigree in Last Weekend’s Pacific North Competitions

Pacific Northwest Women's DII

The largest margin of the day belonged to Bend Lady Roughriders, who travelled to Bellingham, WA and gave Chuckanut Bay Geoducks a rough ride, collecting 117 points to zero.

Eugene Reign, reigned supreme at Budd Bay, beating the Bandits 55-33. Oregon Sports Union (ORSU) D2 held their ground against Boise, sending the women of Nemesis on a long trip back to Idaho, winning 46-7.

Tacoma had a bit of everything Saturday during an impromptu "Tacoma Rugby Day."  There was plenty of rugby for all ages Saturday.  High School JV and varsity teams had league matches as well as both the women and the men.  As plentiful the rugby was, the scores went the way of the visitors for all league matches.  Portland Lady Pigs wandered their way into Tacoma and stampeded the Sirens 24-0.

Northern California Women's DII

Sacramento Amazons showed the reason they are number one with a blanking of Santa Rosa Black Roses 69-0, While San Francisco Golden Gate (SFGG) travelled to Berkley and beat the All Blues D2 26-19.

Old Mission Beach Athletic Club (OMBAC) vs San Francisco Golden Gate (SFGG) was the match everyone was waiting for, and it did not disappoint.  As is the theme this weekend, the top position showed no movement as OMBAC got ahead within two minutes with a penalty kick, remained on the gas pedal, and claimed a 28-14 victory.

Belmont Shore traveled to Santa Monica and won 19-3, while Life West kept the visiting Olympic Club at bay winning 55-22.

Northern California Men's DII

Another anticipated 1 and 2 matchup brought San Jose in to face Sacramento Blackhawks.  This high-octane game was the closest anyone came to knocking off the top position this weekend as the game ended in a 46-46 draw.  The visitors fell behind fairly early and muscled their way back to tie it at the 78th minute with a penalty kick.

There were only a few upsets of Men's teams, two of them were Life West D2 who lost to Bay Area Baracus 33-25 and East Palo Alto who were beaten by Santa Rosa 20-41.  Elsewhere, SFGG D2 beat Sacramento Capitals 27-45.

Pacific Northwest Men's DII
