USA Rugby’s Southern Region Plays Full Slate of Games for St. Patrick’s Day

Women's Division II: Carolinas/Georgia: 

The Eno River Rage blanked Asheville's French Broads, 31-0.

The Charleston Hurricanes were forced to forfeit their match against the Atlanta Harlequins D2.

Women's Division II: Florida: 

The Orlando Griffins blasted past the Tampa Bay Krewe, 108-0.

Men's Division II: Georgia/Carolinas: 

Six Division II clubs partook in three games throughout the Carolinas and Georgia division of USA Rugby's Southern Region Saturday.

The Atlanta Renegades took a road trip to the east, where they defeated Charlotte RFC, 47-35.

Southern Pines RFC pinned the Greenville Griffins, blowing past the Upstate SC squad 54-7.

Life Running Eagles D2 side edged out Atlanta Old White, 15-7.

Men's Division II: Florida

Six of Florida's Division II teams met for three matchups Saturday.  The Sunshine State's spring matrix season, like the Southern Region's other divisions, winds down.

The Boca Raton Buccaneers beat the Naples Hammerheads, 31-19.  Hammerhead Terrey Dolan had the following to say about his club's loss: "Seven Naples starters were absent from the match! All things considered, pretty great; with (multiple) goal line stands by the Hammerheads throughout the second half."

In a game filled with five penalty kicks, the Tampa Bay Krewe edged out the Orlando Griffins, 23-20.  The Krewe capitalized on one more PK than the Griffins, giving Tampa Bay the win.  Krewe Captain Bill Eagan spoke with USA Rugby after his team's win: "Our true character showed today after being down early and coming back to win. I couldn't be prouder of the guys."

Finally, in Florida, the Fort Lauderdale Knights mauled Miami RFC, 59-21.

Men's Division II: True South

Two contests took place in the True South Division II Saturday, both in the division's West pool.

The Birmingham Vulcans traveled northwest to take on the Memphis Blues. The Vulcans winning, 34-30.

Wrapping up the True South's Division II action from Saturday, New Orleans RFC defeated the Knoxville Possums, 38-31.

 

Men's Division III: Carolinas: 

Fort Bragg RFC lost to Cape Fear RFC, 64-12.

A little further south, the Hilton Head Gators bottled up the Clayton Bootleggers, 47-14. 

The Charlotte Barbarians beat Triad RFC 35-29.

The Asheville RFC secured a win Saturday after the Charlotte RFC D3 was forced to forfeit the match.

Men's Division III: Florida:

In Florida, in what Coach David Ansteatt said was "a win or go home scenario" for his Sarasota Surge club, the Bay Area (Saint Petersburg) Pelicans narrowly edged out Sarasota, 22-18.

Also, in Florida, Brevard Old Red Eye RFC routed the Daytona Beach Coconuts, 53-19.

Men's Division III: Georgia:

In a battle between two of Atlanta's D3 sides, the Renegades D3 outscored the Old White D3 15-7.

Men's Division III: True South:

In the East Pool, the Chattanooga RFC D3 outgunned the Gadsden Pioneers, 71-7.

In the South Pool, the Montgomery Yellowhammers downed the Pensacola Aviators, 27-17.
