Men's Eagles to Play Final Summer Test at Rival-Canada

USA will travel to Halifax for only road match of June test series

LAFAYETTE, CO. - The Men's Eagles will face rival-Canada in the final match of their 2018 June test series on Saturday, June 23 (time TBD) at Wanderers Grounds in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Following their 29-10 win over the Canadians in the 2018 Americas Rugby Championship, a tournament where the Men's Eagles went 5-0 to earn a historic second consecutive title, USA looks to close out their summer fixtures with the thrilling renewal of North America's most exciting rivalry. Kick time and broadcast information for the match will be announced closer to date.

"Our matches against Canada are always contentious and we expect an intense encounter in Halifax," says Men's National Team General Manager, Dave Hodges. "Canada will be well prepared under Kingsley Jones so we will have to be at our best for a full 80 minutes to confront the challenge of the home team."

Hosted on Canadian soil, the fixture will serve as the United States' only road contest of the summer. Starting the test series against a team to be named later in Denver, followed by Scotland in Houston, the Eagles look to build on the energy and momentum from an undefeated 2018 season thus far.

Last time Canada hosted the United States at Tim Horton Field in Ontario, during the first match of the Rugby World Cup 2019 Qualifiers, both teams delivered a well-rounded scoring affair that resulted in a 28-28 draw. And, with this serving as his first USA vs. Canada rivalry match at home, Canadian athletes will be determined to impress Head Coach Kingsley Jones.

Facing their rival after winning the Americas Rugby Championship for the second consecutive year, as the only team to have ever done so by winning all five matches, the United States is at their prime. Now ranked No. 15 in the world - their highest position since the 2015 Rugby World Cup - the Eagles will need to prepare for No. 21 Canada who has the opportunity to rise in the rankings with an upset over USA.

Broadcast information and a kick time for the game will be confirmed closer to date. In the meantime, updates will be made available by following @USARugby on social media and visiting USARugby.org.
