Red River Sees High Scoring Close and Affairs Over the Weekend

Busy week in the Red River as teams are continuing to push for a strong finish to the season.

Men's Division I
Dallas Rugby defeated Little Rock 78-27 and clinched a regional playoff berth.

The Austin Blacks earned a victory over the Dallas Harlequins 31-12. The blacks had six different players score a try.

The Glendale Merlins defeated the Austin Huns 42-33

Men's Division II
The West Houston Rugby Club defeated the Houston United Rugby club 43-17.  The West Houston Lions had seven different try scorers. Jan Emanelli got the first try with a score in the fifth minute.

The San Marcos Greys defeated the Austin Blacks D2 34-12. The San Marcos attack was led by Joel Cagle's two try performance.

Houston Athletic Rugby Club defeated The Woodlands Rugby 42-41 in a highly contested match.

It was a back and forth affair between Dallas Rugby D2 and Tulsa Rugby. Dallas Rugby held on to defeat Tulsa 20-19.

Greg Thomspon scored the opening try for Dallas in the 23rd minute, to take an early 5-0 lead.

Two minutes later Taylor Watkins evened up the score for Tulsa with a try of his own. Louis Vuocolo made his conversion that put Tulsa ahead 7-5.

In the 33rd minute Olly Laseinde put Dallas back up 10-7 with a try.

Two minutes later Garrett Allen responded with a Tulsa try for another lead change. Tulsa led 12-10 going into halftime.

Four minutes into the second half Thompson scored his second try of the match, giving Dallas a 15-12 lead.

The score stayed the same until the 77th minute when Michael Mena converted a try for Dallas giving them a 20-12 advantage.

In the 79th minute Lucas Turner scored a try for Tulsa and Vuocolo made his second conversion of the match. Dallas now held a 20-19 lead.

The late charge was too little to late as Dallas held on for the 20-19 victory.

Oklahoma City defeated Fort Worth Rugby 20-7. Oklahoma City player John White had an eventful day as he scored a try in the 23' minute and received a yellow card in the 30' minute.

Men's Division III
The Austin Blacks D3 celebrating their clubs 50th anniversary handled Corpus Christi Rugby 98-0.

Alamo City Rugby pulled off the victory over the McAllen Knights 29-24.

San Antonio defeated the Austin Huns D3 98-10 and are in second place in the central table.

Shreveport defeated the Abilene Rugby Club 39-28.

Alliance Rugby held a clean sheet shut out as they defeated Dallas Rugby D3 79-0.

The Houston United Rugby Team defeated the Bay Area Rugby Club 45-12. Houston also secures a playoff berth.

The Kingswood Crusaders earned a hard-fought 26-22 victory over the Houston Arrows.

Men's Division IV
Fort Worth defeated Alliance Rugby 33-7.

San Marcos Greys defeated the Corpus Christi Dogfish for the second time this season with a score of 58-19.  San Marcos is in third position in the south table.
