Atlantic North Recap: Separation Between Top and Bottom Created

With another weekend of league matchups set in the books, take a look at all the action from the Atlantic North divisions.

Men's Division I:

Old Blue keeps their fantastic form in the Men's Division I season as they played Mystic River this weekend and won 52-12.  As for the other matchup, Life took on NYAC and won by a fair margin of 38-15. 

This extends Old Blue's record to 4-0 for the season and brings Mystic River to 0-4.  Old Blue looks to keep their season unblemished as they take on NYAC again on October 6th.   This should be a close one as the last time these two met Old Blue squeezed out a two point victory to win 36-34.  Mystic looks to breakthrough with their first victory against Life next weekend at home.     

Women's Division I: 

In the sole matchup of the weekend, the reigning Division II champions, Charlotte Rugby, looked to start off on the right foot in their first Division I matchup, but the Albany Sirens had different plans.  It was a close match up until half when Albany took a late first half lead 15-10.  Second half, however, was all Albany as their defense locked down Charlotte keeping them off the board in the second half.  Final score of this one was 25-10, Albany. 

Men's Division II:

Starting in the Empire New Jersey division, there were two tight matches.  Morris managed to edge past the Bayonne Bombers 31-27.  In the other matchup for this weekend, Montclair defeated Monmouth 34-26.  

Moving over to the Empire New York division, New York Rugby defeated White Plains 41-31.  The Village Lions went back and forth with New Haven, but eventually came up a tad bit short losing 48-36.  In another close matchup, Old Blue D2 knocked off Lansdowne 38-34. 

Jumping to the Great Lakes division, the Rochester Aardvarks came away with a large victory over South Buffalo 50-22.  In a much tighter matchup, the Pittsburgh Forge managed to get the victory over Buffalo, 34-24.  For the final matchup in the Great Lakes division, the Cleveland Crusaders cruised to a 54-13 victory over the Syracuse Chargers. 

To wrap things up in the Men's Division II Atlantic North, the New England division.  The Boston Irish Wolfhounds defeated their foe the South Shore Anchors by a score of 38-26.  Worcester locked down their opponent Boston rugby and won decisively, 34-0.  Mystic defeated Hartford 64-24.  In the final match, Amoskeag downed Portland 61-15 for the victory. 

 

Women's Division II

Starting in the Empire division, Morris downed the Village Lions 26-14.  Brooklyn had a stout defense show up against Suffolk, winning easily 52-0.  The Danbury Mad hatters defeated Uticuse 29-5.  Monmouth hung on for a high scoring match against New Haven, 52-40.  The Rochester Renegades defeated the Fairfield Yankees in a close one, 44-39.  For the final match, Long Island defeated Union County in decisive fashion, 71-29. 

Moving to the New England division, Burlington defeated North Shore 24-10.  The Worcester Shamrocks defeated Amoskeag 64-0.  Portland won sizably against the Upper Valley Valkyrie 77-0.  Providence defeated the Charles River Rats 43-5. 

 

Men's Division III: 

Starting in the Empire New Jersey/Long Island division, Suffolk Bull Moose defeated Union County 54-0.  In the other matchup Long Island won big over North Jersey 82-0. 

In the New York City division, Old Maroon defeated Brooklyn in a close one, 17-14.  New York handed the Rockaway Fishheads a 46-15 loss. 

For the New York/ Connecticut division, Greenwich rugby took down White Plains 39-19.  The Danbury Mad Hatters won decisively 114-0 against the Fairfield Yankees. 

Moving over to the Upstate division, the Ken-Ton Misfits blew past Rochester 50-3.  South Buffalo beat Binghamton 55-27.  Buffalo defeated the Rochester Colonials 50-26.  In a close matchup the Southtown Saxons edged past the Genesee Creamers 39-34. 

Finishing up, in the New England division, the Upper Valley Mountain Men squeaked by Burlington 36-32.  The Charles River Rats showed a strong defense as they held their opponent Freedom Rugby to 0 points in a 59-0 win.  Boston Maccabi beat Stow River 63-17.  North Shore handed a loss to their opponent Old Gold 46-12.  Lastly, Providence defeated Springfield 38-7.
