Josh Whippy made waves on the rugby scene in 2017. An emerging and talented athlete, Whippy quickly moved up the radar in 2017 following receipt of his Collegiate All-American Honor, which propelled him to his first USA Rugby selection.

Joining the Men's Selects later that year for the Americas Pacific Challenge, Whippy made enough of an impression to be selected as a traveling reserve for the Men's Eagles 2017 November Test series.

Though he wasn't capped then, Whippy officially made his international test debut against Canada during the 2018 Americas Rugby Championship. There, he scored his first try against Uruguay in the match which sealed the United States' 5-0 run and second consecutive ARC title.
