Abby Gustaitis began playing rugby in 2010 at the University of Maryland after ending a promising career as a women’s basketball player during high school. After college, she joined Northern Virginia Women’s Rugby Club where she played from 2014-15 before making her appearance with the Eagles.

From 2015-16, Gustaitis served as a resident at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, CA after which she earned a Captaincy for the Scion Rugby Academy’s National 7s Championship run. Once officially debuting for the Women’s Eagles during the France tour in 2016, Gustaitis impressed her way to a selection for the 2017 Women’s Rugby World Cup roster. And, after helping her squad to a fourth-place finish, she was invited to play for the University of Canberra in Australia.

In 2017, Gustaitis caught the attention of Head Coach Richie Walker who made the decision to add her onto the roster for the 2017 Dubai Sevens Tournament where she helped her teammates to a second-place finish.
