Born in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Baumann has played all across the country for numerous clubs in the United States. In the summer of 2015, Baumann was selected to represent the USA Selects on a tour of South America where he won over coaching staff and earned a spot on the Men's Eagles.
Baumann earned his first cap in Toronto against Tonga in the 2015 Pacific Nations Cup, and earned the respect of the coaching staff that summer. His hard work was paid off with a selection to the 2015 Rugby World Cup. Baumann played three matches in the Rugby World Cup, scoring his first International try against Samoa. Since that time, Baumann has played for the USA in the 2016 Americas Rugby Championship, summer International test matches and Fall tour.
In 2016, Baumann signed a contract to play for the Denver Stampede of PRO Rugby North America and later signed to play with the Wellington Lions of the Mitre 10 Cup.
