Douglas is a 1999 graduate of Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, was a member of the women's rugby and indoor & outdoor track and field teams during her collegiate career. She was also a member of the 2006 and 2010 USA Women's National Team and served as an international female athlete representative to USA Rugby's Congress from 2009-13.

Douglas is currently the head coach of the Mount St. Mary’s women’s rugby team. She has coached the USA Girl’s High School All-American (USA U-18) Team and served as the assistant coach for the USA Women’s National Team.

In May of 2017, Douglas was invited to attend and participate as a representative of Mount St. Mary's in the first-ever Women's Rugby Forum in Providence, R.I. The forum, which was co-sponsored by the U.S. Women's Rugby Foundation (USWRF) and Atavus, was an invitation-only event for a select group of women administrators, coaches, referees and journalists. The representatives joined together to critically reflect on the state of women's rugby in the United States, and helped map out a plan to drive the growth of girl's and women's rugby.
