Nate Brakeley was a standout high school rugby player for St. John's Prep in Massachusetts and was a Men's Collegiate All-American (MCAA) while at Dartmouth University. While playing for Dartmouth, Brakeley would win two Collegiate Rugby Championships (CRCs).
After graduation, Brakeley went on to study at Cambridge University where he also played rugby. He returned to the United States in 2014 and begain playing for the New York Athletic Club (NYAC). While playing for NYAC, Brakeley was asked to join up with Cambridge's touring side for a match against the MCAAs, a match the American age-grade side won.
In 2015, Brakeley won a USA Rugby Senior Club Division I National title, and just months later was asked to tour with the Men's Eagles for the 2016 Americas Rugby Championship (ARC). Brakeley earned his first cap as a member of the Men's Eagles in their ARC win against Canada at Dell Diamond in Round Rock, Texas.
