Jervey began playing rugby at the University of South Carolina, but her career gathered momentum after she switched to the Florida State University, the leading women’s club at the time and one which has produced the likes of Women’s Eagles Kathy Flores and Candi Orsini. Jervey then moved to the Atlanta Harlequins, a Division 1 team.


Rugby Career

  • A remarkably resilient athlete, she was blessed with pace and played wing and centre during her prime.
  • She made her debut for the USA Women’s Eagles in 1989.
  • Two years later she was a member of the USA’s victorious team at the inaugural Women’s Rugby World Cup in 1991. USA beat England 19-6 in the final.
  • She also played at the 1994, 1998, 2002 and 2006 tournaments to become the first player to play in five Women’s Rugby World Cups.
  • Jervey has two WRWC runners-up medals after USA lost to England 38-23 in the 1994 final and then 46-12 to New Zealand in the 1998 final. The Women’s Eagles finished seventh in 2002 and fifth in 2006.
  • She retired from international rugby after helping the USA to finish fifth at WRWC 2006 in Canada.
  • She retired with 40 caps to her name, a USA record which stood until 2013 when Jamie Burke surpassed it, and 178 points.
  • On her 50th birthday earlier this year she played in a friendly match for Atlanta Harlequins against NOVA (Northern Virginia).
  • She is still playing for the Atlanta Harlequins in the Premier League National Play-offs with the Atlanta Harlequins, having turned out as a number 8 and flanker this year.

Coaching Career

Appointed head coach of the USA Rugby South senior women’s all-star team in 2008.

  • Women's Rugby World Cup 1991 winner
  • Division 1 National Championship winner in 2012 with Atlanta Harlequins.
  • Placed 4th in 2014 National Championship
  • One of seven athletes to receive Distinguished Service Awards from ASAMA, The American Sports and Arts Museum and Archives, in 2008.
