When and how did you start playing rugby?
I had my eye on rugby as an incoming freshman at Syracuse University. I spent high school playing basketball, volleyball and track and field and I was ready for a new and challenging sport - and rugby was it!
What is the best thing about being a USA pool player?
It is an honor to be among the best rugby players in the country. The relentless commitment displayed by my peers pushes me to be faster, stronger and fitter than I ever could have been on my own.
Significant Non-Rugby Achievements
Successfully completing a two-year service as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Cameroon from 2010 to 2012. It was a powerful experience that pushed me to the limits and taught me some of life's important lessons like humility, dedication to a greater good, and helping those less fortunate than yourself.
What does representing your country mean to you?
I remember as an Under-19 USA player, the first time I wore the Eagles jersey and stood, with my arms around my teammates, for our national anthem before kickoff. I was overwhelmed with a sense of pride. Every time I hear the national anthem I think of that moment and every subsequent moment where I have been chosen to wear the Eagles jersey. There are few things greater than that feeling of overwhelming pride and honor that comes from being asked to represent your country.
