Folayan played basketball, cross country, football, and tennis and graduated fourth in her class at Poinciana High School before playing rugby at Stanford University in 2005, where she won two National Championships. She taught math and science for Oakland Unified School District and joined the Residency program at the Olympic Training Center in 2013. Folayan won a bronze medal at Rugby World Cup Sevens 2013 and leads the U.S. in points and tries scored on the Women's Sevens Series. She was named to Team USA's 12-player Rugby Sevens squad for the Rio 2016 Olympic Summer Games.
